My family are a massive part of my life. My home is with my parents in Norfolk, but the rest of my family can be found 2 1/2 hours away from me and it really breaks my heart that I can’t see them at the drop of a hat, especially my Grandma & Grampy.
For the past 4 years we’ve had a Cooper-Fisher weekend away. We’ve rented a house and spent 3 days making the most of all being together, because it’s not easy to get us all together with so many different schedules.
We tend to make the excuse by celebrating a different occasion each time. We’ve had my parents 50ths, my uncles 50th, and this time was my Grandmas 80th birthday, a blooming massive occasion!
We hit the jackpot when the weekend we’d booked fell in the middle of the UKs heatwave and we were staying in a 7 bedroom lake house! On Friday we all made our way down to South Cerney, Cirencester.

Our entire weekend consisted of swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and enjoying the weather. It gave my grandparents a good opportunity to get to know Tom and Joe (my cousins boyfriend).

Our family weekend away is always my favourite weekend of the year and this one has been the best by far, I’d definitely return to this property and to South Cerney. If you’re thinking of staying in England but want a weekend away I’d really recommend Spring Lakes in South Cerney. We found the property we stayed in through Air BnB (it came fully equipped with paddle boards, a canoe, windsurfers, life jackets, wetsuits, bikes, and a cinema room). South Cerney also has powerboat watersports available in the neighbouring lakes.
